Capitalism has plunged us into darkness. Society is tearing itself apart, convulsed in an ever worsening downward spiral. Environmental destruction, racism, and war spread like the plague.
Society is regressing in every possible way. Even things like life expectancy, literacy rates, caloric intake, are falling.
Staring over the cliff into the abyss of capitalist barbarism, Communists are planting our flag in the soil of this country.
We are the Revolutionary Communist Party (RCP), the section of the Revolutionary Communist International in Canada. Our demands are modest: the complete overthrow of capitalism—the construction of a society free of exploitation and oppression.
We have entered a new period. Stability and peace are a distant memory. Now is the time of convulsions, crisis, war and revolution. The time to build a party capable of leading the workers to power and putting an end to the horrors of capitalism has arrived.
The Central Committee of the RCP met on March 23-24. With around 100 participants, including committee members and guests, we discussed all aspects of the launch of the new party and new international—the RCP and the Revolutionary Communist International. We’ve set ourselves ambitious goals, and we’re all pumped up to achieve them.
We present here the main product of this meeting: the Manifesto of the Revolutionary Communist Party. This document will be submitted to all party cells for discussion, and for final adoption at the founding congress on May 18-20. We look forward to your feedback. Israel murders aid workers—Western imperialism is complicit
On April 1, seven food aid workers, including three Britons and one dual U.S.-Canadian citizen, were killed in Gaza when their jeep was bombarded by the Israeli military.
Far from being the result of a “miscommunication”, one IDF source revealed to Haaretz that “the General Staff know exactly why WCK were bombed—because in the Strip, everyone does whatever they like.” In other words, entire IDF units are targeting civilians with impunity.
Art Gallery of Ontario workers on strike
Hundreds of AGO workers represented by OPSEU Local 535 are on strike after years of wage cuts and precarity. According to the union, the AGO’s last offer was an insult. On pay, after years of wage erosion under Bill-124, its latest offer was an “increase” of three per cent this year and 3.5 per cent next year—a cut from its previous offer and just barely above inflation. Anything more, according to the employer, would cause the Ford government “undue hardship.”
Québec solidaire is turning into a pale copy of the PQ
A few years ago, Québec solidaire was the main opposition party, “preparing to govern”, while the Parti Québécois was on its last legs. Today, having “moved to the center”, QS stagnates in the polls around an eternal 16 per cent. Meanwhile the PQ has risen from the ashes and leads the polls.
This is entirely the fault of QS leaders, who missed a golden opportunity.
